Green Building Practices

The Green Building Practices aim to support event organizers in their collaboration with key suppliers such as venue and accommodation providers, providing guidance on how to improve the sustainability of their buildings. This will in turn improve the sustainability rating that events obtain through the Event Sustainability Checklist.

To cover the construction of new venues or buildings (temporary or permanent) or the use of an existing building, the GET provides users with an option to assess, improve and certify the energy and carbon performance of the building.

Green building assessment programs (such as LEED, GSAS, BREEAM, etc.) are relevant when assessing the sustainability practices of venues and accommodation providers.

The GET facilitates the calculation of the venue’s energy and carbon footprint seamlessly with the software suite provided by the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). A number of green building schemes are available under GSAS to support the design, construction and operation of event venues.
